David R. Webb, Founder & CEO of The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center in Dayton, Ohio. A proven leader, Mr. Webb achieves consistent results overseeing the daily operations of the center’s activities. Once a grassroots vision, President Webb is accredited with the successful strategic development and implementation of the center’s business plan birthing it into the brick and mortar facility. toured by music fans each day. Officer Webb is known for his talent in recognizing and facilitating collaboration of key strategic partnerships, seeking and securing fundraising opportunities for non-profit entities, managing a result driven national team of professionals while ensuring fiscal responsibility and social accountability. Under Mr. Webb’s direction the museum is entrusted with the care and professional display of several hundred authentic funk music artifacts and aggressively pursues its mission to educate the public, especially the youth, on the history of funk music.
Proven Experience
A seasoned and educated professional, President Webb has a vast amount of experience spanning over a 40-year career in the music and entertainment industry. Possessing an Associate of Applied Arts in Music from Sinclair Community College and pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, David has produced award winning television programming and is a noted radio personality. Amongst his most honored works are “The Funk Chronicles,” “On the 1 with Gee,” and Talk Back with Rhine McLin.” As a result of his production expertise, The Funk Chronicles wan Philo awards for excellence in television and talk programming, best interview entertainment, and arts and cultural awareness honors. It is deemed the most viewed television show on local public broadcast programming. In guiding its daily operations, Mr. Webb brings his strong skill-sets for strategic implementation in this arena to The Funk Music Hall of Fame and Exhibition Center generating the same level of excellence. In 2016 in recognition of his funk center leadership, Webb received the Roxie L. Cole Leadership Award. This award is given to a person who exemplifies leadership, with “effectiveness, initiative, energy, skill, authority and vision while contributing to their community.” It is the highest honor awarded by DATV studios, for programming and leadership execution. Further, Mr. Webb demonstrated his excellence in leadership as a successful education and Chief Executive Officer of his Masonic lodge in Troy, Ohio.
Founder & CEO, Webb is an accomplished public speaker. Selected for the 2016 TEDx Dayton Event, David presented a rousing talk on “How the Arts and Funk Music Influenced My Life.” Coupled with his passion for the center’s mission and his public speaking training, Mr. Webb delivers regular presentations to educate the public on the history of funk music.
